Historical narrative

The Kiddie Ferris Wheel at Trimper Rides was a favorite first thrill for young visitors to Ocean City in 1959. Part of the family-owned amusement park that had entertained generations since the late nineteenth century, the Kiddie Ferris Wheel was designed especially for children who were not yet ready for the larger Ferris wheel and thrill rides. Its colorful caged cars and gentle motion made it both exciting and reassuring. Children eagerly waited their turn while parents stood nearby with cameras and proud smiles. The sounds of carousel music, laughter, and barkers calling from nearby games filled the air. For many youngsters, a ride on the Kiddie Ferris Wheel marked a memorable milestone in their Ocean City vacation.
