Historical narrative

In the early 1960s, the sweet aroma of caramel popcorn drifting along the Ocean City boardwalk often led visitors straight to Fisher's Popcorn. Opened in 1937 by Everett Fisher, the family business had become a beloved boardwalk tradition. The sight of copper kettles, the sound of popcorn tumbling through warm caramel, and the cheerful bustle around the stand were familiar parts of a summer day. Vacationers lined up to purchase boxes and tubs of the famous treat, still warm from the kettle. Children eagerly sampled pieces while parents carried larger containers back to hotels, cottages, and beach blankets. The combination of salty ocean air and rich caramel flavor created a memory that lingered long after vacation ended. For many families, Fisher's Popcorn was Ocean City itself.
