Dolle's Candyland (04-12)

Historical narrative
In 1930, a visit to Dolle's Candyland on the Ocean City boardwalk was one of the highlights of a summer vacation. Founded in 1910 by Rudolph Dolle and his family, the business had already earned a reputation for fresh saltwater taffy, caramel popcorn, and handmade candies. The sweet aroma drifting from the storefront often stopped visitors in their tracks. Vacationers strolling the wooden boardwalk stepped inside to watch candy being made and displayed in glass cases. Children pressed close to the counters while parents selected boxes of treats to take home as souvenirs. Outside, the sounds of conversation, ocean waves, and distant amusement rides blended together. A bag of Dolle's candy was more than a purchase—it was a cherished part of the Ocean City summer experience.
