Ocean City Boardwalk, 1960s (04-06)

Historical narrative
On a warm summer afternoon in the early 1960s, Ocean City's boardwalk bustled with energy and excitement. Vacationing families wandered beneath the bright sunshine, pausing to browse souvenir shops, arcades, and beachwear stores. Children tugged at their parents' hands, eager for rides, games, and treats from candy stores and ice cream stands. The aromas of Thrasher's French fries, popcorn, and saltwater taffy drifted through the salty ocean air. Beachgoers in colorful swimsuits crossed the boardwalk carrying towels, umbrellas, and sand buckets as they moved between the beach and nearby attractions. Teenagers gathered in groups, laughing and enjoying their summer freedom, while older visitors relaxed on benches watching the passing crowds. Above it all, the sound of seagulls, lively conversations, and crashing waves created the unmistakable soundtrack of a classic Ocean City afternoon.
