The Enlarged Victorian Courthouse (02-08)

Historical narrative

In 1895, as the county's population approached 30,000, east and west wings were added to the 1881 Victorian-style courthouse. Interestingly, today's courthouse, with its winged structure, reflects the general design of the 1895 expansion. The wings followed the original façade and used the same materials, making them appear as natural extensions of the original building's corps de logis , albeit on a smaller scale.
