Belvidere (01-21)

Historical narrative

Belvidere is an extant plantation house built on a tract of land in Mitchellville originally known as Beall's (or Beale's) Gift owned by the Duvall family until financial problems forced sale of the property. The first portion of the two-part house was built circa 1825 and the second in 1856. The County's Register of Wills Walter Addison resided there. Steve's mother and Mr. Addison dated in the early 1960s. Later, the property was transferred to James Starkey, Jr. At that time, the property was known as Maxley Land.
