Cottage at Warington (01-20)
❧ ✦ ❧

Historical narrative
The Cottage at Warington stood directly across what became known as Lottsford Vista Road from the rear portion of Captain White's Enterprise Farm in Mitchellville. Built in or about 1842 by Washington Hilleary, the Cottage and its acreage became one of the farms of Marsham Waring's large Warington estate. The estate included what would become Enterprise Farm, which Captain White and his wife later purchased to create their model dairy farm. Enterprise Farm was featured in other watercolors in this collection. The Cottage is a unique example of a small plantation dwelling.
