Mullikin School (01-15)

Historical narrative

Mullikin School was a primary school (Grades 1–6) at Mitchellville's Mullikin Crossing from 1919 through the end of the 1963–64 school year. It was a successor school to the one-room Cherry Hill School (depicted in another watercolor in this collection), which had served local pupils since 1874. When Mullikin School replaced Cherry Hill School, the school bell that had rung from Cherry Hill's bell tower was installed on the second-floor ceiling of the north vestibule stairwell at Mullikin Elementary.
