Mitchellville Post Office (01-13)
❧ ✦ ❧

Historical narrative
A counter, mail-sorting tables with cubbyholes, and a wood-burning stove were housed in a small wood-frame building. That was Mitchellville's post office in the early to mid-20th century. Steve remembers visiting and, during the winter, being greeted each time by the overwhelmingly pungent odor of burning wood. When the building was destroyed by fire in mid-century, it was replaced by a concrete-block building, which is now gone as well.
