A Harvest of Happiness (10-12)

Historical narrative

Steve's friend Eddie and Eddie's wife, Darleen, seem perfectly happy going about their chores, as every day brings the simple pleasures of tending crops, caring for their animals, and sharing their bounty with friends. Seated proudly on their tractor, they share a moment of laughter and companionship as the harvest basket fills with freshly gathered vegetables. Nearby, a white goose and two curious ducks wander through the sunny fields. Eddie looks every bit the cheerful farmer, pitchfork in hand and straw in his mouth, while Darleen cradles a basket of eggs. Their smiles say it all: farming isn't simply work for them. It is a way of life—one filled with purpose, companionship, fresh air, and the satisfaction of working together.
