Dee's Ducks Bowling (02-14)

Historical narrative
A marketing manager might advertise this as “Underground Upper Marlboro” for its time and place. Descending a flight of stairs through a door beside a former hardware store (which is now a restaurant), one found a truly fun place in its basement: Dee's Ducks Bowling, named after Lansdale “Dee” Claggett of the generational Upper Marlboro family, the Claggetts, and “Ducks” for the duckpin bowling played there on Dee's six lanes. According to legend, duckpin bowling originated in Maryland, with its name derived from the appearance of a “flock of flying ducks” when the small ball struck the pins, sending them flying.
