Heart of Upper Marlboro (02-02)
❧ ✦ ❧

Historical narrative
This was the intersection of Main and Water Streets, with the iconic Bank of Southern Maryland building on the left. The distinctive brick building with its conical-roofed turret was a landmark in the town's downtown commercial area. This view looking down Main Street captures the heart of the town as it appeared in the very early 1900s. While the landscape has changed significantly over the years, this corner remains an important point of reference in Upper Marlboro's history.
