Kiddie Automobile Ride (05-08)

Historical narrative
The kiddie automobile ride at Marshall Hall gave young children a taste of the excitement enjoyed by older riders on the park's larger attractions. The miniature cars traveled along a guided track, allowing children to feel as though they were driving their own vehicles. For families visiting the park in the 1950s and 1960s, it offered younger children their own special adventure while older brothers and sisters enjoyed the larger rides. For a child, climbing into one of the colorful cars felt like taking control of a real automobile. Tiny hands gripped the steering wheel while the car rattled gently along the wooden track beneath shady trees. The ride was slow and safe, but to young drivers it offered a wonderful adventure and a memorable sense of independence.
