Historical narrative

Steve lived on Enterprise Road in Mitchellville during part of the 1950s and 1960s. While his family's home was not as grand as many of those in this collection, it was, for a family of four, a comfortably modest, traditional, stucco-clad Cape Cod with three bedrooms, 1½ baths, and a full basement on five mostly wooded acres. In this piece, Steve, age 12 in 1959, is portrayed playing with his much-loved German Shorthaired Pointer, Hunter. Steve was middle class, but Mitchellville life imbued Steve with a richness that money couldn't buy. He felt wealthy indeed.
